The best medical alert device is the one that’s actually on you when you need it. That sounds obvious, but it’s where a lot of good intentions fall apart. A device left on the nightstand can’t call anyone.

That’s why we offer three ways to wear a Liferun device: on the wrist, on a lanyard around the neck, or clipped to a belt or waistband. Each one suits a different kind of day. Here’s how we’d help you pick, based on how you or your parent actually lives.

Finding the Wear Style That Fits Your Routine

Each option below pairs with specific Liferun devices, so you can match a medical alert device to the way your day actually goes.

Option One: On the Wrist, Like a Regular Watch

Wearing your device on the wrist feels familiar, like a regular watch. It looks and wears like a regular watch, and it stays in easy reach for daily activities.

We have two wrist worn devices. The Liferun Belle W is a lightweight personal emergency response system designed for all lifestyles. The device itself weighs 22g, or 32g with the wrist strap, and measures 40 by 37 by 12 mm. It lasts up to 7 days per charge and fully recharges in 2 to 3 hours, and we call to remind you when it’s time to charge. It’s IPX rated and safe for showers and rain. It’s certified for fall detection and alerts dispatch even if you can’t press the button, and you can adjust the sensitivity.

The Liferun Smartwatch is our other wrist option. It comes in black or silver with interchangeable bands and an adjustable wristband, and it weighs 1.4 oz. It adds heart rate monitoring and step tracking, plus optional automatic fall detection with a cancel feature. It’s rated IP67, splash and shower resistant, though not for submersion. The battery lasts up to 24 hours per charge, so it fits best for someone comfortable with a daily charging habit.

The wrist works well for people who already wear a watch and don’t want anything around their neck.

Option Two: Around the Neck on a Lanyard

The lanyard is the classic way to wear a help button. It’s worn around the neck and stays close as you move through the day. We consider the lanyard ideal for fall detection.

Our Liferun Belle X and Liferun Belle S can both be worn on a lanyard. The Belle X weighs 1.3 oz and comes in black, or in white on Verizon only. It includes fall detection with a straightforward cancel feature and lasts 6 to 16 days per charge, depending on its operating mode. It uses GPS, WiFi, and cellular triangulation to find your location.

The Belle S weighs 1.6 oz, comes in black only, and lasts up to 45 days on a single charge. For someone who’d rather not think about charging very often, that long battery life is a big reason to look at it.

The lanyard is a natural fit if a parent doesn’t like the feel of something on the wrist, or if fall detection is a top priority.

Option Three: Clipped to a Belt or Waistband

The belt clip is a discreet option. The device clips onto your waistband or belt, and it stays out of the way. It works well for jogging and staying active throughout the day.

The Belle X and Belle S are the devices listed for belt clip wear, the same pair that goes on a lanyard. The Belle X has an extra benefit here. Its Advanced Caregiver app lets family locate the device on demand and make it ring if it’s misplaced. That helps when a clip comes off a waistband and lands somewhere unexpected.

A Few Questions That Point to the Right Style

Before you choose, picture an ordinary day. Does your parent shower without thinking twice about taking things off? Our wrist devices are rated for showers, and the Belle S and Belle X are IP67 rated, though not made for submersion.

How reliable is the charging habit? If daily charging sounds unlikely, the Belle S lasts up to 45 days and the Belle W lasts up to 7 days. The Smartwatch, at up to 24 hours, asks for more attention. The Belle S can also send email and SMS alerts to loved ones about low battery.

Do they move a lot, or spend most of the day at home? The belt clip suits jogging and staying active. People focused on fall detection may lean toward the lanyard.

What the Add Ons Cost

The add ons for wear styles are simple. A belt clip is $1 one time, and a lanyard is $4 one time. Fall detection is listed as an add on at $10 per month. None of our plans require a long term contract.

However You Wear It, the Same Team Answers

The wear style changes how the device fits your day. It doesn’t change who answers when you press the button.

Every plan includes 24/7 emergency monitoring, two way voice communication, nationwide 4G LTE coverage, and GPS location tracking. One press connects you to our dispatch center, where our average response time is under 10 seconds. We can contact family, dispatch EMS, police, or fire, and our agent stays on the line with you until help arrives.

Tell Us How They Like to Wear Things

Not sure which style your mom or dad would actually keep on? That’s the call we like getting. Tell us about the daily routine: the shower habits, the walks, whether a watch has always felt natural. We’ll walk you through the devices that match. Our agents help set up your plan, suggest the best protocol for your needs, and guide you through your first test.
